DOG FRIENDLY PUBLIC SPACES- FRANK BROWN PARK

Panama City Beach's Frank Brown Park has two dog-friendly areas! To learn more about the park, visit their web site here: www.frankbrownpark.com. A fenced in off-leash dog playground is located at the back left section of the park as you drive through. A fenced in off-leash dog playground is located at the back left section of the park as you drive through..  Frank Brown Park also has 1.5 miles of dog-friendly greenways and trails. And it serves as the trailhead for Gayle's Trails, a special project named after Gayle Oberst, the city Mayor and a dog lover. The trailhead beginning at the Children's Pond in the rear of the Park will feature a paved trail with picnic tables and areas, landscaping for shade, bike and vehicle parking areas, restrooms, and a kiosk and small pavilion with trail information and directions. At completion of the first phase of the project, a paved trail will also extend northward to the east west trail that traverses Panama City Beach. Starting from the trailhead in Frank Brown Park will allow travel south to the Gulf and through Aaron Bessant Park, east to the St. Andrews State Park, west to Camp Helen State Park and Walton County, and/or north to Pine Log Forest. More information on Gayle's Trails can be found here. Again, responsible dog ownership is a must! Please follow all posted rules. Here is a picture of the Frank Brown Park dog rules sign

Dog Friendly Public Spaces- Pier Park

Pier Park is a 900,000 square foot retail and entertainment complex located on 93 acres that covers land from Front Beach Road (at the City Pier) to the heavily-traveled Highway 98 (Back Beach Road). Target, Dillards, Borders, and many, many boutique stores and restaurants (including Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville) are tenants.

Adjoining Pier Park is the City's Aaron Bessant Park, which is dog-friendly!

Aaron Bessant Park has beautiful natural areas, a nature trail and a lovely grass amphitheater. In the summertime, the park is host to the "Summer Concert Series" on Thursday nights. Your dog is welcome to these events, too!

View a YouTube video here of families and their dogs enjoying the music of "Emerald County Line" Thursday night, June 28, along with their four-legged family members.

The City of Panama City Beach has our utmost gratitude for recognizing the bond we have with our dogs and the need for outdoor public areas to accommodate us. In return, we must be good citizens. Please always pick up after your dog, and observe the additional rules for good citizenship as you and your dog enjoy Aaron Bessant Park:

  • Do not let your dog visit other people unless invited.
  •  Your dog must be well-behaved and under your control at all times, whether by voice or leash.
  •  Always pay attention to where your dog is and what your dog is doing.
  •  Your dog must be fully immunized and wear ID tags.
  •  Cooperation between dog owners is essential - ensure that other owners know and comply with the rules.
